National Geographic: Snake Wranglers-The Devil Boas Of Cozumel
Cozumel Island is facing a biological disaster due to the introduction of an alien species: the boa constrictor. Where did these boas come from? How much damage are they doing? What can be done to stop their onslaught? These are questions that constrictor expert, Jesus Rivas, will try to answer by teaming up with local scientists to assess the magnitude of the problem. Alien species, like the boa, can exterminate native species by competing with them, preying upon them or destroying their habitat. These effects are magnified in an island ecosystem. Jesus and the team are on the case, looking for a solution before the problem gets any worse.

National Geographic's Land of the Anaconda (1999)
Just because they're not venomous doesn't mean they're not dangerous. Travel with National Geographic to the land of the anaconda, the world's largest snake. Join barefoot scientist Jesús Rivas in the murky marshes of Venezuela on his quest to understand these huge, fearsome reptiles. Up to 30 feet long, weighing many times more than the scientists studying them, anacondas are difficult subjects at best, but the National Geographic team captures brilliant footage of them swimming, resting, mating, and hunting prey. Watch the struggle between a large female and a capybara (the world's largest rodent) and see that the winner doesn't always come away from the battle unscathed. You'll also see some of the other many hazards of the swamp, such as the anaconda's venomous cousins and the smaller-but-still-dangerous cousin of the alligator--the caiman. The work's not for everyone, but you can get at least a taste of the land of the anaconda in your living room.Download links
