Boeing 747
With its unique upper level passenger area, the 747 literally monopolized the four jet wide body market for over 20 years.

Convair B-36 Peacemaker
Conceived to carry nuclear weapons, the mammoth B36 bomber was capable of flying at 25,000 feet, 275 mph, and carrying a payload of 4,000 lbs and was the big stick of the West for much of the Cold War.

Douglas C-47 Dakota
The C-47 was the most ubiquitous and successful transport aircraft the Allies ever produced. Originally conceived as the DC3 for civilian transport, the Dakota was given a multitude of wartime tasks, even that of a gunship.

General Dynamics F-16 Falcon
In the 1970’s, the U.S. Air Force faced a problem: it had developed what is arguably the greatest fighter plane in the world, the twin-engine F-15, but the aircraft was too costly to produce in volume, and America's allies couldn't afford to buy many of them for their own arsenals. Out of this need came the powerful but economical single-engine F-16 Falcon.

Lockheed F-104 Starfighter
So small and tubular that some called it the Flying Missile, the F-104 had wings so thin that the leading edge had to be protected by a cover when it was on the ground.



Lockheed P-38 Lightning
The P-38, better known as the Lockheed Lightning, was one of the premier fighter planes of the Second World War. Serving in a variety of roles—including bomber escort, ground-attacker, reconnaissance plane, and dogfighter—the P-38 was used extensively in both Allied fronts.

Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird
Breaking records in speed and sustained altitude, the SR-71 spy plane was one of the Air Force’s best kept secrets of the 1960s. Its technology and achievements astounded even the experts of the day.

Martin B-57 Canberra
Designed in the 1940s, modified during the 1950s, in service in the 1960s, and state of the art in the 1970s, the B-57 evolved to fill the gap between fighter planes and bombers. This high-speed model also served with the airforces of Taiwan and Pakistan and, in both cases, as with those in U.S. service, saw combat with distinction.

McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom
The McDonnell-Douglas F-4 entered service with the U.S. Navy in 1960, and was later adopted by the Air Force and the armed forces of 10 other countries.





McDonnell-Douglas F-15 Eagle
From the Zero to the F-86 and beyond, fighters have won the battle for air superiority. Sparring with the formidable MiG over Vietnam, America developed the F-15 Eagle – arguable the best fighter.

McDonnell-Douglas F-18 Hornet
In the late '70’s, the U.S. Navy needed a lightweight fighter to replace its aging A7 Corsair. McDonnell-Douglas's bid for the contract came in the form of the F-18.

North American P-51 Mustang
The P-51 Mustang is one of the central reasons the Allies won W.W. II. Its performance and firepower superiority struck fear into both German and Japanese pilots, and ensured the safety of bombers over Berlin.

North American F-86 Sabre
With its swept wing design and powerful jet engine, the F86 arrived just in time to meet the threat of the MiG 15 in the skies over Korea.





Northrup F-5 Freedom Fighter
Derived from the small fast T38 trainer, the F5 became the economical alternatives for dozens of nations who wanted jet fighters in their air forces.

Vought F-4U Corsair
The Vought Corsair F-4U, with its peculiar folding wing, was the scourge of the Japanese in WWII. Its pilots shot down over 2,000 Japanese planes; fewer than 200 Corsairs were lost.
